This is not the Mexico-Guatemala border

The text placed with this photo is a lie. The photo was taken by Ahmad Gharabli in 2012. It is on the border between Israel and Egypt near the town of Eilat. There are neither fences nor walls along the border between Guatemala and Mexico. Not only is there no fence, there are no desert-like areas on that border. The entire length of it from the Pacific to Belize is covered with lush vegetation. It was either a case of wishful thinking on the part of whomever added the text about Mexico to this photo, or it was deliberately ‘fake news.’

There are several other images that have made the rounds on social media claiming to depict a wall or fence between Guatemala and Mexico. They are all bogus. Go to Google Maps and look.
