Looking at something comparable, Roseanne Barr ran in 2012, first seeking the Green Party nomination and after losing that to Jill Stein she was nominated by the Peace & Freedom Party, with anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan as her running mate. She was only on the ballot in three states and received 0.05% of the vote nationally, despite getting a decent amount of media attention due to her celebrity status. In the three states where she was on the ballot she did not make a significant impact.
California - 53,824 votes - 0.41%
Colorado - 5,059 - 0.20%
Florida - 8,154 - 0.10%
One can certainly argue that West has greater celebrity and far more money than Barr. But even as erratic as Barr was and is, West is even more so. West lacks any organizational support, has no idea how to run a campaign, and faces speculation that he is purely intending to be a spoiler. Even the most well supported alternative candidate can struggle to get over 1% in a presidential election. West has little chance to have any meaningful impact with his incoherent campaign.
